FREQUENLTY ASKED QUESTIONS

My car got dented, now what?

Estimates are free so just give us a call and set up an appointment that works for you.   We will then do a thorough evaluation of the damage and discuss repair options to get your vehicle back to like new condition.

Will the repair be detectable?

In almost all cases dents are completely gone and leave no trace of repair.  On extreme collision damage that has stretched metal it may have minor imperfections that may be visible under specific lighting.  Most people are blown away by the results and what we are capable of.

What about Aluminum, high strength steel, or plastic?

Yes for all 3 of those.  Although the level of difficulty increases with aluminum and high strength steel, they both respond very well to PDR.

How much does it cost?

The starting cost for most small dents and door dings is around $150 dollars.  This would be a 1 inch dent with good access to the back of the dent.  Price increases are based on size and level of difficulty.  For every inch the price increases by $50 dollars.  For example a 15 inch dent would start at $850 dollars.

Once the dent is measured we then factor the level of difficulty.  The most common factors include:

-Stretched metal

-Aluminum, high strength steel

-Double layer (door edge)

-Limited or no access (glue pull)

-Crease dents (visible line)

-Body line

-Braces

Is PDR a cheap alternative to conventional body shop methods?

Although in most cases the cost of PDR is a only fraction of body shop pricing, we like to think of it as a premium, advanced and specialized repair method.  This allows you to keep your factory finish and eliminates the use of body fillers (bondo) or replacement parts on your vehicle.

Do we still need body shops?

Absolutely!  Body shops are a valuable part of our community and play a huge role in automotive repair.  Although it's amazing what PDR is capable of it has its limits.  Luckily we have some of the best shops right here in the Owen Sound and surrounding area who are able to put your car back together when it has received extensive collision damage.  We at Sound Dent Solutions keep a strong working relationship with these shops.  If you are unsure of your damage let us have a look and we will be happy to advise you on the  method of repair that is best for your vehicle.  We come from a collision repair background so we have extensive knowledge and training on all methods.

Can I get PDR done cheaper in the city?

Some start up companies have been known to offer discount rates in order to justify sub standard repairs.  Beware and do your research before approaching these companies.  The reworking of a bad repair will usually cost more than the initial price.  We use industry standard pricing software to make sure our prices are equal across the board.
